【摘要】:Eddy-currentexaminationisanondestructivemethodoflocatingdiscontinuitiesinaproduct.Changesinelectromagneticresponsecausedbythepresenceofdiscontinuitiesaredetectedbythesensor,amplifiedandmodifiedinordertoactuateaudioorvisualindicatingdevices,orboth,oramechanicalmarker.Signalscanbecausedbyoutersurface,innersurface,orsubsurfacediscontinuities.Theeddy-currentexaminationissensitivetomanyfactorsthatoccurasaresultofprocessing(suchasvariationsinconductivity,chemicalcomposition,permeability,andgeometry)aswellasotherfactorsnotrelatedtothetubing.Thus,allreceivedindicationsarenotnecessarilyindicativeofdefectivetubing.1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresthatmaybefollowedforeddy-currentexaminationofseamlessandweldedtubularproductsmadeofstainlesssteelandsimilaralloyssuchasnickelalloys.Austeniticchromium-nickelstainlesssteels,whicharegenerallyconsideredtobenonmagnetic,arespecificallycoveredasdistinguishedfromthemartensiticandferriticstraightchromiumstainlesssteelswhicharemagnetic.1.2Thispracticeisintendedasaguideforeddy-currentexaminationofbothseamlessandweldedtubularproductsusingeitheranencirclingcoiloraprobe-coiltechnique.Coilsandprobesareavailablethatcanbeusedinsidethetubularproduct;however,theiruseisnotspecificallycoveredinthisdocument.Thistypeofexaminationisusuallyemployedonlytoexaminetubingwhichhasbeeninstalledsuchasinaheatexchanger.1.3Thispracticecoverstheexaminationoftubularproductsrangingindiameterfrom0.125to5in.(3.2to127.0mm)andwallthicknessesfrom0.005to0.250in.(0.127to6.4mm).1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
