【摘要】:Thisdocumentdescribesamethodforthedeterminationofsuspendedsolidsinrawwaters,wastewatersandeffluentsbyfiltrationthroughglassfibrefilters.Thelowerlimitofthedeterminationisabout2mg/l.Noupperlimithasbeenestablished.Watersamplesarenotalwaysstablewhichmeansthatthecontentofsuspendedsolidsdependsonstoragetime,meansoftransportation,pHvalueandothercircumstances.Resultsobtainedwithunstablesamplesneedtobeinterpretedwithcaution.Floatingoilandotherimmiscibleorganicliquidswillinterfere(seeAnnexA).Samplescontainingmorethanabout1000mg/lofdissolvedsolidscanrequirespecialtreatment(8.6).NOTE1Theresultofthedeterminationdependstosomeextentonthetypeoffilterused(5.2).Itisthereforerecommendedthatthetypeoffilterisspecified.NOTE2Thesizedistributionofparticlesindifferentsamplescanvarywidely.Thereforethereisnocorrelationbetweenresultsobtainedwithfiltersofdifferentporewidthandnoconversionfactorcanbegivenfortheconversionofresultsobtainedwithonetypeoffiltertoanother.
